AVAST Color Guard at the 2013 National Veterans Wheelchair Games held in Tampa, Florida

National Veterans Wheelchair Games came to Tampa, Florida on June 12,18, 2013.  The AVAST Color Guard appeared at the opening ceremonies and at the closing ceremonies as well.  Atheletes came from all the states and participated in competitions including baseball, basketball, racing, swimming, archery, pool, bowling, rugby, ping pong, discus, javelin, shotput, and much more.  Children were represented at the games as well.

In 2012, the AVAST Color Guard was invited to present colors at Wednesday’s Republican National Convention.

C-Span Network broadcast the convention gavel-to-gavel. The Guard was interviewed by many organizations including Reuter’s News and French Television. In the interviews, they stressed that AVAST represents the United States of America, all veterans and all amputees.
